RW 5d The Baron Of Beef ++

Post by red-thumb »

G'day All,
I got UP early today in the cold (1 degree Celsius)of Ozy Winter (I'm a Pom so I am allowed to whinge  ) and was lucky enough to win (only 2 Bids :D ) this which was a big surprise for the GBP63.61 and it is Boxed which I do not normally worry about. :D :D :D :D

Can anybody confirm that this is the correct Box, seller says it is the original Box. :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

Hi Red

Nice group of rare variations! I hope they’re all real. I think the silver-wheeled 37b is the most interesting but you should know that there’s some doubt about whether this was ever issued (a long discussion here, for example). You’ll need to check the axle ends very carefully and also look at what else has been on offer from the same seller. If it is good, it’s a spectacular find.

G'day Glenn,
Thanks for your input and I knew it was rare but not an unseen variation. :o :o :o
I have looked quickly at your "here" and I will have to wait until I receive the item before I can post Really close up pictures of the axle ends.
I must admit I did consider before bidding whether it was genuine and decided I would take a gamble as it did not look a NEW Peen. :!: :!: :!: :!:
These are the best pictures I can give at the moment which is from initial listing. :D

The 37b was bought from a known Ebay-alias of Eric Jonkers (original listing here) and must therefore be considered a fake.
Please note that Eric has also recently sold a second example using a different Ebay-alias (here) which must therefore also be considered a fake.
If any reader is unaware of Eric Jonkers and his reputation, please read this thread.

Hi Red

It will be interesting to see what you find when it arrives. From the pictures you've posted so far, I wonder about the non-peened axle end, which seems rather bulbous to me.

Hi Red

The bus looks very much like this one, sold a couple of weeks ago, so I guess it has been moved on again with a small profit. Looks ok to me, but others know much more about these!

Yes, hate to see a board member get stung by this thief. I hope you can return it for a refund or file an item not as advertised claim against him. At the very least leave him negative feedback.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

Hi Red

As Tinman says, it’s sad to see this happen, but don’t be too downhearted. I’m sure you weren’t knowingly showing fakes. The bus looks fine, and there are plenty of good sellers out there. You’ll find some better models, I’m sure.
