RW35c - Opinions Please!

Post by Idris »

What do other Members make of this, being offered by Ebay seller "modelcarserfurt2014"?
To me, the silver model looks to have all the wrong characteristics: full sill between the wheel arches, single side locker, closed holes top rear. In addition, there's no decent baseplate photograph , which seems odd given that is the key component. There are also no shots off the offside, meaning that not all the axle ends can be inspected.
I have already asked the opinion of a well-respected Member, and he has expressed grave doubts about the model's authenticity.

I would consider it to be a too late a casting to have that type of RW baseplate. The ladder securing module on the top looks to be of the angled design which if it is, will also confirm the late casting and it seems the model is pretending to be one of these below...

I don'y know why but your link doesn't work for me - try this.
It's certainly not an early casting, which wouldn't have the sill or the flat area for the sticker. From the back view, the black plastic looks like it could be painted over silver. I don't think I'd buy it.

...and as I suspected, the ladder securing module on top, is of the angled design a definite later casting.

My highlight around the modules clearly showing the later angled design. This model is not worth a penny!

Very much a home brew, everything is wrong about it. The base shot earlier is not the best but the rivet area looks strange as well.

Thank yu for pointing that out. I don't know what was wrong with the original link but, after some open-heart surgery, it's working correctly now.

I viewed some of the seller's other auctions. Of those I viewed, only the questionable 35C did not have photos showing all four axle ends. That alone is enough to convince me that this listing is devious.

Also from the same seller: My German isn't good but he mentions original, rare and complete but then refers to new decals further down. What do you think of the spread rivet and trim on the 2 liner? Seems far too cheap too. Any thoughts?
