G'day,
Would you say this is a Friday Afternoon Lemon or was there a Joker in the factory. :?:
Is it an after Market addition and they could only afford 2 wider chrome wheels or as stated above.
The 2 chromes takes away from the Very poor touch-up Duco but I wish there were 4. :x
Let me know what you think as I don't know how easy you can change wheels without showing tampering. :oops

Hi Red Thumb,
Looks like a custom made model to me.
Obvious points are touch up green paint all over the model but if you look at the wheels they look clean. No sign of wear or ageing to the same degree as the model.
Axle ends look wrong and hub holes look pushed on.

Shame as the wheels and model time line are right. It would have looked good issued like this.

Cheers, Steve

Stephan, I remember that post. To be honest I have to say the same thing. The body is far to chipped up for the condition of the wheels. I'd expect to see play wear on the wheels too. Your photo's are great and you can see the fine tread on the wheels still. They are too new.
Your excellent close up photo of the MB 67 hub wheels clearly shows to me that the wheels have been tampered with. You can see that in Red Thumb's photo too.

G'day Stephan,
Thanks for your input and your link to the photos.
It looks as though they are the same with wider wheels and chrome hubs only on the rear.
Why would someone only change the rear on 2 separate models.??? :o
I hope some one else can shine some light on this subject and tell me which model those wheels & hubs come from as I have looked at my 5 other models with chrome hubs and they all have a flat centre to the chrome hub.

What others are there. :?:
I have never pulled a chrome wheel off so is the hub fixed or separate from the wheel. :?:
Are they all plastic which have been chromed as my Mustang. :?:
Why only change 2 wheels. :?:

So many questions.

Cheers Red.

G'day Steve,
I don't see why, because it has been touched up that the wheels would not be factory original.
Surely if one was to change wheels you would pick a better model and change ALL wheels. :?:
Please check the shape (No Flat Area) of the chrome hub against other models and if you can let me know which model these wheels come from. :?:
I Love having feedback it makes collecting even Greater. :D

To me if a model has a lot of chips on it, then it has had a fairly hard life. To me it would make sense that if the body of the model shows ware then the wheels too would show a similar amount of ware!
If the body shows ware to such a scale as the model in question shows, in fact so much so that the owner sought to touch it up a bit, they may also have looked at replacing the original worn wheels.

Try chipping a model up that much and do no damage to the wheels. I would think it would quite hard to do.

Hi Steve,

I do not agree with you.
This Anglia is very playworn but the tyres look pretty good to me.
I think this model was always played on carpet roads - never on a pavement or in a sand box.

It is very odd that two examples of the same model with exactly the same mismatched wheelsets should turn up.

The wheels mentioned by red thumb (one of which shown on his red mustang), came in two flavours.

Orignally a black plastic wheel designed to replace the all black plastic rim had a seperate 'Push-In' chromed effect hub. This was replaced by a seperate chromed hub with a seperate black plastic tyre. Sadly this feature was shortlived due to the introduction of the solid, narrow superfast wheels during 1969.
