MOY3-1 variation.?

Post by red-thumb »

G'day,
I would Love to know if anyone has seen or got one of these MOY3-1 Trams with no detail paint.??
It came in the box shown and has black base and wheels.
Is it an error or new variation.??
Cheers,

I have a similar model. This is issue 7 as per the 2002 YY book. Which issue is yours? Untrimmed models are not usually given a specific issue number as they are considered error pieces most of the time, Unless it was a specific trim change that can be related to a casting or other change to the model.

There is a Yesteryear board which would see YY specific questions get a better response.

G'day Bob,
Thanks for your post and the picture. It looks like your model is an earlier one than mine because of the box and grey wheels.!! :!:
I purchased mine in box D-1 and it has black wheels, and I do not have the book you talk about, I only rely on VBD listings.
So what you are saying is untrimmed are basically Error Models.??? :?:

G'day
Thanks for your input and question.
I have models with gold trim, silver trim, silver & gold (on the one model) and they all have the cow guard trimmed in grey or white.
The 2 samples shown in this topic have NO Trim at all, back or front.
Cheers

D1 :?:

Boxes were allocated a letter system starting with 'A' which became 'B' when a significant change happened which in this case a box redesign took place with artwork tweaks and every time artwork was changed the designation changed with it.

The 'D' boxes were the first to recieve full colour artwork of the model but on a plain background. This is classified as a 'D1'.
'D2' box artwork was tweaked to have added detail behind the image of the model.
More tweaking of the artwork (mostly to do with the background), created the 'D3' box.
With the addition of placing artwork of the model and a better model number description on the end-flaps, 'D3' morphed into the 'E' box.
'E1' boxes have the addition of the registration logo but are mostly the same as the 'E' box.
