ToysNZ Customs

Post by toysnz »

I posted (without thinking) my custom Ferrari Dino. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=7031 This thread will hold ALL other customs I decide to show....

This was my second attempt at airbrushing... a flame job on another Ferrari. This is the only photo I took of it - it was entered in my NZ Club's AGM competitions. To achieve the flame effect I used clear plastic, cut to the shape I wanted, to reverse mask the front of the body. Then I sprayed orange. Then using a larger reverse mask I sprayed the red. I masked off the Ferrari badge so it remained on a yellow background. The badge was tampo printed on the kit body when I bought it.

Can you tell it is quiet in the Barber's shop today?

Here's another - also entered in the competitions. The card states:
The transporter is a Warehouse Special - part of an 8 piece set comprising plastic and metal die cast models.
The entire model was completely disassembled, primed, repainted in red and then reassembled.
The 4 Ferrari models are 1/43 Maisto kits - each took around 2 minutes, 25 seconds to assemble.

Brave attempt at that flame effect and something I think I would not attempt and prefer to do free-hand, possibly with 'Sharpie' type marker pens.

Kevin - my free hand is not so steady so I figured a reverse mask job might come out better... and I think it did.
