Smaller than Normal Lesney truck.

Post by kurt2379 »

Hello,Thank you for accepting me to the group,Recently got into vintage diecast collecting, after purchasing several {Over 100} at yard sale.
My question concerns a vintage Lesney truck that I have found,It is Very similar to #15 Rotinoff Super atlantic tractor,Except,Where Rotinoff is 2 1/2" long,1" wide, the one in Question is only 2" long,3/4" wide. The only marking on 1 in question is "Lesney,England" Inside,no model # or name. Both have 6 tires, smaller one has gray,Larger,Black. Both trucks orange. Thanks for any help you can offer. Not sure if pictures loaded correctly.

The Rotinoff is a 15b (i.e. the second model to be issued with series no. 15). The mystery model is a 15a (i.e. the first model to be issued as no. 15). Details can be found here (15a) and here (15b).
You might want to consider purchasing one of the many collectors' guides to assist you with future identifications. (Hammond's "Lesney Matchbox 1-75 Series Diecasts" is a good, cheap, easy-to-find starting work, but every serious collector has, or aspires to, a copy of Stannard's "Matchbox 1-75 Series 1953-1969 Collectors Catalogue").
