Y-3-1 Tram Recess Opening Under Stairs Question

Post by bobneumann »

HI,
Can someone post descriptions and pics documenting the Y-3-1 Tram "Recess Under Stairs" casting differences? Or has this been discussed already? The Yesteryear book shows "Recess under stairs -yes" "Partially filled in" and "Fully Filled in" but Diagram 1 in the book does not correspond to those descriptions as only two pictures are shown.
Thanks in advance,
Bob

These extracts are from a UK Matchbox magazine. These magazines are a better source of this kind of info than either the "White Books" or MICA magazines in my opinion.

"Partial infill" refers to only one end of the tram, where there is a slot left at the bottom of the quadrant under the stairs that you can see daylight through, (v) above.

You have PM as well.

On page 156 of Alex Picha his book for Models of Yesteryear till 1972 you can see very clear photo's.
I would recommend you to find a copy of this work.
This is absolutely the best reference work for early Models of Yesteryear models with apron 1700 pictures.

An English language version of the Big Book is being worked on at this time. A smaller guide in English, specifically for the Y1-Y16 metal wheeled models is almost ready. Watch this space!
