Lagonda sealed in Plastic

What was the name of the material that these models were sealed in? I want to say "Transpolite" but not sure.

Was this a one-off produced privately or was this part of a larger production run produced by an independant contractor of the era? I suspect this was not a Lesney factory produced product.

This is a home made item in my opinion. The model was released after Stanley Plastics ceased Transpalite production. Possibly another company manufacture. There have been numerous examples of models so encased, none of which were Transpalite, most of which were home made.

This is similar with a black base, so may be a commercial maker of these two.

So do I, but these two examples look far too well finished for that.

That's how I remeber them, very 'Home Made' and not really good enough to be mistaken for any 'Transpalite' item.

believe that is why kits didnt last long here, too many variables
item had to be extra clean,latex/mold super clean,chemicals in correct proportions, temperature just right
where tranpolite could control those in house for the most part

You can now get a very clear resin as my mate uses it for making heads for fishing jigs ( Marlin etc.) and they are big lumps of very clear resin which he fits eyes into. On all these 3rd party models there is always an amber or yellow tinge to the plastic resin so easy to tell. Transpalite were made differently using very high pressure to force out air bubbles and a lot of high heat, thats why they are still perfectly clear today.
