Mystery Tractor

Post by tractorboy »

I recently acquired this, along with a small group of Lesney/Dinky models.
It's about 60mm long
Assumed it was a Fun Ho but have had no luck searching or tracking down the maker online.

Anyone here have any ideas?

Hi Rodger

I recently sold a green one of these to Ian. He may have discovered who the manufacturer is. He had the same suspects as you.

Cheers

This appears to be the same as the green tractor here (which may well be the model referred to above).

It is a Charbens .... or at least a copy of one.
This page would seem to back that statement up.
The shape, the tow hook, wheel bosses, underside all match ...

Steering wheel however doesn't match and the casting isn't as crisp as a first generation casting.

The length of the Charbens tractor is 91mm. I would guess therefore that it is a pantographed knock off copy cast.
I can't see anyone else coming up out of the blue with the same crude generic casting if it hadn't been copied.

Is it in Robert Newson's Farming books. Anyone got those to check before I can get to mine.

I disagree.
Thanks everyone, I looked at at the pages on the thread that Idris highlighted and looked through thread on Lincoln models and found a picture of the tractor on page 5 here(in blue) that Dave, (RSSierra) posted which looks identical.

So could well be a Lincoln model - interesting hour reading through all the posts/threads.

Link to Lincoln information here and here, courtesy of toysnz.
