I had one of those early ATV "buggys" back in the early 70's. Some of the scenes where they zoom along are speed film up to make them look faster. The vehicles were sold as All Terrain Vehicles and were even capable of crossing water. They did well on uneven surfaces, were under powered for hill climbs, could become mired in deep mud (but would not sink and would float on the mud and have to be winched out). They were also billed as capable of crossing water. In water they had virtually no steering and propulsion was provided only by the large off road tire treads. I tried to cross a lake once and required rescue. A light wind blew us into a corner of the lake and against a sea wall. All too soon these things were replaced by the three wheeler and subsequently the four wheeler.Rob wrote:I really liked Banana Splits with those buggys they drove, another show which I remember was the Double Deckers...how did 50 years go by so fast

Interesting Pete chose those Two programmes.petethesweet wrote:Hi all, I don't think we had a TV until i was five, i used to go round to my mates house on a Saturday night to watch Dr Who & Dixon of Dock Green. Pete
The Police box used in Dixon of Dock Green was also used in Doctor Who (both BBC produced programmes), but only in the 'Pilot Episode'. When the OK was given for the show to proceed, a new Police box had to be made because the Dixon box was very difficult to manoeuvre in the lift of the studio where the show was filmed. This new box was shorter by 8 inches than the Dixon box achieved by having a lower roof.

Some of the others I have found lately are Route 66, Peter Gunn, The Outer Limits, and my one of my favorites The Twilight Zone.
