Over on the MCF facebook page, a Mr Paul Carr has alerted collectors of new, recently produced 'Climat' labels.

Fake 'Climat' labels.
Re: Fake 'Climat' labels.
I would not be wasting cash on climat labelled Superfast. There has been a recent flood of them on ebay which rather coincidentally occurred around the same time these repro labels were offered for sale by a German seller.

Always good to weed out the competition so that your own "not so original" models have a better chance of selling.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

Please remember that this is a public thread and that the jurisprudence is that the law of libel also applies to social media such as this Forum. However, my understanding of that law is that, in the event of a prosecution being brought, it would be for the aggrieved party to disprove the allegation.

How? (Not everyone reading this thread will have access to a genuine label for comparison purposes.)ritchie wrote:The fake and the original label can be easily distinguished.
Re: Fake 'Climat' labels.
There is also an auction on eBay Germany: SF 12 Citroen with Climat label on roof.
But the label doesn't look good, looks like a laser print.
The labels on the cars from the eBay.co.uk look much better.
My question is: Did they come originally in blisterpacks? Which SF models have those labels?

That is what I've heard. However, blister packs can be resealed if you know what you're doing so even buying a mint & blistered model is no guarantee of authenticity.SuperFast wrote:My question is: Did they come originally in blisterpacks?

Re: Fake 'Climat' labels.
For the background of the Climat models, please see this previous thread.
Regarding the Climat models offered on eBay, I think it is unfortunate that the seller chose to combine the models with boxes which did not originally come with them. This creates confusion, and it casts some doubt on the authenticity of the models themselves.
I am not saying that they are fakes. On the contrary, from what I have seen they may well be genuine, although it is impossible to be absolutely sure just from looking at pictures on the internet, especially if you are not well acquainted with the original labels (which I am not, as I do not have any).
One particularly odd item included among those eBay offers is the 42f 1957 Thunderbird with a Climat label, which I have not seen nor heard of before. As this model was introduced in late 1982 (with the first models reaching the market after the Lesney bankruptcy), it is actually too late to have been included in the original Climat promotion. If that label is genuine, it must have been applied to the model at a later date, perhaps from some leftover stock of labels. Now I wonder if this should be catalogued as a genuine variation or not...
