Re: Y-15 Rolls Royce with Green Seats
Bob, I hope you did not pay top Dollar for the Y-15 Silver Ghost with Green seats in your picture. This is a very easy variation to make, by swapping seats between the plated 'Giftware' model and placing them in a normally painted model.
Looking at your picture, it appears to have different shades of Green seats suggesting if they are the results of a seat swap, then they have been sourced from different plated models.
I know of 3 shades of Green seats for this model and I know it is difficult showning this on a computer screen, but I have included a picture below and some members will see the 3 shades.

Re: Y-15 Rolls Royce with Green Seats
Why would they necessarily have been sourced from different models? if castings can appear years after they were originally manufactured and still get used, why wouldn't different batches of seats get mixed up? Plastics from giftware models like the Y3 Riley & the Y13 Crossley are easily switched and should not command a premium in my opinion. Yes, I agree 3 different shades of seats ranging from deep bluey green to dark green, but like a lot of YY shades of paint and plastics, the difference is often only obvious in natural daylight.

In my experience the seats in a plated model are usually matched but noticably different between production periods the plated/Green seat models were available.YYS4BOB wrote:Why would they necessarily have been sourced from different models?

Re: Y-15 Rolls Royce with Green Seats
Thanks for all the comments. No, I did not pay top dollar for the model, in fact I do not own it. We found it a couple nights ago in the collection we are sorting. We have boxes for these and I am using the Yesteryear Book Third Edition to identify the correct boxes. Plated models are another issue as we are finding all the plated models to be mint boxed on their original giftware, none have missing seats that were switched. The plated pre-productions and/or color trials are yet another issue but those do not have boxes and are not mounted on giftware.
We only found one that has silver wheels all around:
We found only one that has knobbly tires:
We found only one with painted rear details:
