This rivet is confusing me, on a relatively HTF SF what's with the blue colour on the inner part of the spun rivet, it just does not look right?? ( is it the photo image or has someone super detailed it.....why??)
I may be wrong! Your comments please as the rest of this lime green SF Zodiac looks just right to me tired eyes.

Now this is strange, in my experience this type of bright green colouring (not really a 'Dayglo' green), is made up of base colouring that does have a lot of blue in it, but I must confess to being somewhat surprised to see it manifesting itself in this way, I would expect it to show up more as a faint powder with elements of blue showing through, that is IMHO.

Kevin i have never seen a rivet like it!!!!
It looks very strange to me and yet there is no other obvious signs that this model is wrong!!

Re: IS THIS RIVET RIGHT?
It really is odd, Alex, was this model ever offered in a blue colour that matches the rivet, if so, maybe it was a blue model, over-painted by Lesney in the new green colour, but it still does not explain why the rivet looks untouched by any machinery to 'Spin' it down...

Re: IS THIS RIVET RIGHT?
Kev the SF#53c certainly came in a transitional silver blue colour (which is a very HTF variant) however that colour bears no resemblence to the colour seen in this rivet.

Hi MM, I've purchased from this seller before and he's always been a stand up seller with nice stuff from So. Cal ... I suggest you ask him and see what his answer/opinion is.

Re: IS THIS RIVET RIGHT?
Probably just a trick of the light, rivit looks fine to me and probably not blue, just normal mazak colour, car looks right and it comes with a harder to find box than its correct G box!
Re: IS THIS RIVET RIGHT?
I don't think so because i) the blue colour is present for the full 360 degrees, and ii) the light is obviously reflecting off a very shiny surface.SMS88 wrote:Probably just a trick of the light, rivit looks fine to me and probably not blue, just normal mazak colour...
However, I'm at a loss to come up with any plausible explanation myself. We have previously had examples of models being oversprayed at the factory, so could this be a blue model (painted in error) which has been recycled? There again, the green/blue interface on the rivet looks too even for it to be blue 'undercoat' which has been revealed by the riveting process. Not only that. but the blue appears to be completely undamaged - almost as if it had been added afterwards.
Definitely an interesting piece and one that I would like to inspect in the hand. Perhaps someone should ask a question of the seller or, better still, request another photograph of the rivet.
