DAF girder truck variation

Post by ford_a_30 »

This is what I get for going through these models, but it looks as though I see another unrecorded version. This one has both the toe guide and the locating stud for the glass. Currently the only listing with toe guide uses a mounting rivet.

Got another unknown version. This one has no guide but does have a rivet.

I think the guide's got it the wrong way round - the riveted glass version came first, followed by the glass with locating stud. All these four have the stud and the tow guide, including the Superfast version on the right. The very scruffy one was mine from new!

There are also at least two different colours or shades of white. The two on the left are cream and the two on the right are bright white, with the regular wheels one actually whiter than the Superfast. The shade differences are similar to the Lomas ambulance.

After a little more thought, it occurs to me that there must be at least one cross-over variation - with rivet and tow guide, or with stud but without tow guide. Or perhaps both? It seems extremely unlikely that the rivet was changed to a stud at exactly the same time that the tow guide was added to the base!

The would be extremely un-Lesney!

There's one on EBay (it's a live auction, so I won't link) with the stud but without the tow guide. I expect it won't take long to find the rivet - tow guide version.
