Totally agree with that example Stephane and nicely presented with those working lights, neat little trick.

I like Dinky Toys because of this...

FAB 1. When this hit our TV screens in the mid 1960's as part of Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds story line I was hooked and to this day I still love that original series and the two feature films.

I was very lucky having a Dad that treated me to whatever Corgi and Dinky toys I wanted and every Saturday morning he would take me into town to our big co op superstore, upstairs to their fabulous toy department and ask me...what do you want!

I got my first original Dinky Toy FAB 1 pretty close to the model's introduction in December 1966, the very first version with chrome plated wheel rims fitted with soft rubber tyres.

I treaseured that model for many years until much later after the TV series had finished being shown I subjected my FAB 1 to a face lift by cutting off the rear bumper peaks and painting the model in dark gloss brown. I then added some extra detail inside the car pretending this was a future Rolls-Royce design and played with it mixed among my other Corgi and Dinky models!

I still have that first model in storage and have since replaced it with another first version but more importantly I have added more versions to make quite a nice collection of them and have recorded a total of fourteen versions to have been issued in the model's 10 year production run.

The Dinky version FAB 1 is regarded by many collectors as still the best looking representation despite the model having four doors which is actually wrong!

It was based on the large puppet model we see on screen in the series and the artwork for the Dinky model was based on the picture below.
