Eric has certainly sold countless rare matchbox models over the years, so having handled so many original Regular Wheel models it would be very interesting to hear why he considers this model a fake. It looks ok to me but i’m no expert!!!!

Hi, sorry but I have to say this. The yellow Prime is not original.

I'm sorry, but I have the same opinion. The axis, used on the yellow model, are the "recycled" axis from another model with the dome head riveted axis. There are visible notches on the axis heads from a riveting machine. And, moreover, the model should have the flat head axis.

I’m not even sure what you are pointing to in that picture. There are no notches on the axis heads. Here is another picture.

It was originally fitted with six grey metal wheels on flat head axles with crimped ends, Later dome head axles with crimped ends were used.

The issue is that done-head axles were only used after the model colour had changed to orange. Accoding to Nick's variation table (here), the yellow model is only known with flat-head axles.
Could we please see close-ups of the crimped ends?

Thanks Elinders for nice photo. I will try to explain my opinion. The opposite end of axis was locked against rotation (by dome head riveted axis). The traces of this aretation are just notches on the opposite side of the axis. The head must be smooth by genuine crimped axis (because there was no need to lock the axis against the rotation).

The #15a Yellow on Nicks variation site is my one and as idris noted it only comes with flat head axels as my one has.

I am getting more confused by the second. My axles match yours on the guide. What does the other side look like? Like I said I have no idea about these cars so I think I’m getting the flat/crimp/dome terms mixed up?
