Corgi Kent police dog section vw van

Post by Kev68 »

Just arrived this morning with original box and certificate is a Corgi Kent Police Dog Section VW van. The certificate says this is model 02 of only a production run of two. Another nice model to add to my collection. :D :D

Number 2 of Two!!!

WOW! how is it only Two were made. It must be a 'Code 3' model, can you clarify this Kev, does it say who is actually responcible for it, Corgi or a private owner.

Hi Kevin the model has the Corgi stamp on the chassis and according to the sticker on the box the van has been refinished by North British Models for the Kent Police hope this helps but still a nice addition. :D

It does indeed, as it seems North British Models does not appear to be a commercial outlet, dealer or wholesaler of models, nothing came up within a quick Google search and this suggests it was done by a private enthusiast on models purchased retail. A workshop probably resides in a garden shed or spare room in a House, but even so, to only manage to make Two examples is unusual!

It looks to be a nice model and in a very 'Classic' dark POLICE Blue finish. It is difficult to say at the moment weather this model will be an investment in later Years, but you never know, stranger things have happened in the model car World... :D

That adress on Google Earth takes you to a row of shops (no model shops I might add!), with residential propereties above. No big sprawling commercial premises!

Hi Kevin whoever the modeller was has done a grand job especially with the attention to detail on the van definitely a keeper to my vw van collection and with only two being produced its a mystery. :D

It is possible whoever the maker was, did not have permission for the design, branding or a connection to the Kent Police, so had to withdraw any plans for further examples and only got as far as the Two and then drew up the idea of the ceertificate to sell them to collectors or had to make an ammended certificate.

It would now be nice to find number 1!
