Plastic River Series??

Post by toysnz »

A friend has asked me a question I cannot answer... he has in his possession a couple of plastic trucks that are remarkably similar to the River Series (Jordan & Lewden) vehicles -anyone know who manufactured these items (I think I have a couple buried somewhere myself!)

They look remarkably like the 'Miniature Vehicles' toys as shown below especially if the axles are metal.

The cab unit certainly does resemble the 'RIVER' Trucks, below.

Think they are bigger than that - my memory is telling me the one(s) I have are at least 3 inches long... haven't had a reply from my friend yet to confirm this.

That's what first struck me... from memory (yes I know mine is failing on a regular basis) I have only ever seen that cab style on the J&L River Series...

We now have an answer to the plastic "River Series" trucks... They were made by Plastic Moulders (NZ) Ltd, located at 650-656 Gt South Road, Ellerslie, who, according to the Trades Directory listing, made plastic toys under the Protex brand name. The (poor) photo below was supplied to show the vehicle's packaging...

Nice one Ian, thank's for the update, not a brand I've heard of.
