VECTIS AUCTONS

Post by petethesweet »

Hi all just got back from Vectis, only a few bidders in the room, prices were moon high stuff that i valued at £50 were fetching nearly double. The moggy & prime mover fetched over £3000 each, very few things were mint & not many mint boxes. Got to lot 200 i had had enough & decided to head for home. In September vectis have a 3 day auction of regular wheels, one day 7000 plus, 5000 another day, 4000 another.I think with this amount they will be in lots of 20s & 30s. I only managed to pick up one today, Pete.

I left commission bids on a few lots, but as expected got bugger all. my bid on
http://www.vectis.co.uk/Page/ViewLot.aspx?LotId=675715
was £120.
It was on E-Bay by midday for £170 start price. Now reduced to £130 start price. However, it is the Vectis listing that is being used on E-Bay

At £130 the seller is losing money, as he must have paid £130 hammer price to outbid me. I smell a rat.
If this breaches site rules, I apologise.

Only bid on the colour trial firebird & escort bodies, pulled out at what i thought was decent money and the bids carried on. I've paid less for pre-pro of the same casting.

Hi all, while waiting for the auction to start I did notice a funny thing, a chocolate easter egg with a free match box car. Some of the castings seemed to be strange with more waste metal than the casting its self Pete.

Given the circumstances, I think this can be viewed as a warning of a potentially suspect listing.

I just added that one to my watch list Bob ! I managed to get the artwork at 50 quid which I thought was a bargain. Some high prices on the Y16 Merc with yellow plastics etc.

I didn't get anything either. Pete - I had one of those chocolate Easter eggs with a Matchbox car as a child. I still have the Lotus Super Seven (pre-Streakers version), so shall have to dig it out and compare castings.

Hammer price was £150, so if the listing is genuine on E-Bay Mick, good luck. Even better luck to get it halfway round the globe in one piece.
