Hallo everebody.
I found a VW beetle metalic red with regular wheels. It's not a fake.
I'm very happy with the car. i paid €7.50 for it.
What is the price for this car at the moment?
Greetings Henk

Re: vw beetle regular wheels metalic red
That rivet looks a bit suspect to me, the hole in the base looks a bit large...how tight is the base

Re: vw beetle regular wheels metalic red
I am not making any comment or judgement on the model pictured.
That said, the way this model is faked is to put a genuine (real) red body onto a genuine (real) regular wheel base. There are several methods to do this. Those who are good at switching the bases often leave no trace and do indeed get away with fraud. Anything that looks suspicious about the rivet or the hole in the base can throw this variation into serious doubt. Price paid for a model accounts for nothing. Often times collectors fail to bid on models out of fear of fraud or because of something they see that makes them suspicious. The only defense against obtaining a fake is solid provenance behind the model.
Regardless, some collectors are of the mindset that the "jury is still out" concerning the issue of this being a valid variation or not. You know, that whole time line thing and all.

It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

The rivet is tight against the base.
I think. It's more the shadow you see.

Looks like glue on the bumper link near the rivet, I could be wrong but if I see this on eBay I wouldn't bid if I'm honest, just my opinion. Hope it is real though.

I think Tim has spotted something...
...does look like something has been going on that we would not normally expect from the Lesney factory.
Ghosthunter.

Does the wear on that tow hook match the wear on the body? To me, they don't look like they form a pair.
