Seems a bit odd that he's just sitting on it. Why doesn't he either sell it on (if anyone will buy it) or kill it off completely? I don't see the point in the current zombie existence.YYS4BOB wrote:The guy's not interested. I think he bought it as a money making idea, realised it was going to cost money not make any and dropped it like a hot coal. I also offered to submit articles/pictures/and work on YY reference, but never got a reply.

Re: Matchbox club
If submitted posts are simply being left in limbo, then it is inevitable that contributors will lose interest and move on the other Fora where their efforts are appreciated.GHOSTHUNTER wrote:Not sure what is happening to the 'Matchbox Club' (formerly 'MICA'), but I popped in for a look at the models database and found my posting of 2015 relating to #13 Dodge Wreck Truck is still awaiting moderation...
If he can't be bothered with the day-to-day running of the Club, why doesn't he appoint some admins/moderators to help him out? Nick knew that moving to the boat would compromise his ability to run VBD and so he took steps to ensure that it would continue to run smoothly during his expected periods of absence.
Re: Matchbox club
Started off fairly well with the auction etc and then found out the horrendous postage costs he under charged for. The next bit was the display cabinets and not sure how well they went. Slowly bit by bit sections were dropped like the buy/swap/sell page and then the promised database never materialized for other models. All in all a total disaster really and its not the MICA club anymore but is now the Matchbox Club UK - nothing to do with MICA anymore.

Re: Matchbox club
I've received follow up emails for the displays so I guess they failed to sell out. Those emails seemed to have stopped, so maybe they are sold out now or he might have quit trying (who knows). You are right about the name MICA sliding into history. Without some type of active club, forum, etc. his old MICA members mailing list will slowly become outdated and worthless too.Moyboy wrote:Started off fairly well with the auction etc and then found out the horrendous postage costs he under charged for. It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
