SF 67b "decal"

Post by zBret »

Recently acquired this very nice SF67b in red. My question is not about the model itself, but rather concerning the number "23" decal. I don't think that it left the factory with it and have never seen any other model in the Matchbox range that wore the number. so it most likely was applied after. One never knows however, therefore I thought that I would post a pic here, in case anyone else may have run across one like this and might have some insight on it. In any even I think it looks great on the car, seems very well applied and has probably been on there a very long time, so I don't have any plans to remove it.

Thanks Tim, that could be a possibility.
I'm not sure what size the Dinky decal are.
The decal on my model is approximately 7/16 inch or 11mm in diameter.

Thanks Ian
Will be interesting to see what you come up with in your research.

Whilst on the subject of decals here, I'll put up this pic of a rare black wheeled M8a tanker that I recently acquired.
Its sporting Esso decals though I don't believe that they are original to the model, as I have never seen them on another.
Perhaps you may have some idea on this one as well, as to where they may have come from. They seem to fit the tanker very nicely.

I have a feeling they are from a Microscale decal sheet..Here are some to peruse.Probably a vintage set with the yellow lines..https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=vinta ... -RjjVJno_M:

Thank you Ian for this information. That indeed does look like the set it came from. I had originally thought it was just one decal, however on closer examination I can now see that the esso logo and the stripes are indeed two separate decals on the model.
