The NAMC’s “Catalog of all Series Matchbox Models” (second edition) lists a highly unlikely model as variation 14-3I: white body, white interior, no roof cross outline, fine GPW. Does any Member have anything even remotely similar?
The AIM's “1-75 Series Regular Wheels” catalogue (second printing, 1983) has an equally curious model listed as variation 14-3a: off-white body, white interior, no roof cross outline, KGPW and crimped axles! Variation 14-3c is also implausible: white body, white interior, roof cross outlines, KSPW. Can any Member shed any more light on either of these? AIM also notes that the 11x45 fine BPW wheels, can be either thick or thin (something we have seen on other models).
Stannard does not list any variations not already catalogued by Nick, and neither does Houghton, although the latter seems to have found a significant number of examples without silver trim. He has separate codes for trimless models otherwise matching Nick's codes 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, and 20!
U.K. Matchbox examined the model in vol. 6 no. 4 (Oct. '82) p142, with a follow-up in vol. 6 no. 5 (Dec. '82) p182. No models not already listed by Nick were identified.
14c Bedford Lomas Ambulance
Re: 14c Bedford Lomas Ambulance
I have a MIB off white tan interior silver wheels with cross outline on the roof. That I can photo. I have a grey wheel in storage somewere but I think it is off white tan interior and common grey wheels

VBD HAS BEEN UNABLE TO CONFIRM THE AUTHENTICITY OF ANY MODELS PICTURED IN POSTS BY TAXIDAD. THEREFORE, THE FACT THAT A PARTICULAR VARIATION IS DEPICTED DOES NOT PROVE THAT IT WAS EVER MANUFACTURED BY LESNEY, NO MATTER HOW AUTHENTIC IT MAY APPEAR.
Re: 14c Bedford Lomas Ambulance
Yes please! (Quite clearly, the implication here is that Lesney's chaotic stock control system once again resulted in an earlier casting being used in later production.)Taxidad wrote:I have a MIB off white tan interior silver wheels with cross outline on the roof. That I can photo.
Re: 14c Bedford Lomas Ambulance
Please remember Hugh, the all white interior in any of the first castings of this Ambulance may be a pre-production example before the interior colour had been set as 'Cream'. The fine GPW variation still appeared in Bob's 1973 second printing, but was NOT a model he had in his extensive collection. I have never seen or heard of that one in anyone's collection over here, so possibly a factory made "Special" with 1965 era 45B tires fitted to it? The Bedford stayed in production till 1967, so as on the 23D Caravan with GPW in 1965, a handful could have been made up for some strange reason......Always the optimist.....kwakers

Re: 14c Bedford Lomas Ambulance
Actually when I got my ambulance out to photograph it it is white with tan interior with the cross outline on the roof and silver plastic wheels I'll go ahead and post the photos tomorrow anyway.
