Matchbox military modells for GI´s

Post by Malibu »

Hi,

today I saw these Matchbox military models enhanced with White star labels.
The seller told me that these models where sold to american soldiers during the Vietnam war at the Philippines.
Could this be true or is it a fake?
I never read or heard something like this before.

There was a Half track made with the star with no circle that Vectus had marked as rare.So at least it shows the star did exist.Could it be also on other cars?..If they had a whole batch made I suppose it would be a good way of useing them up..

Sounds highly unlikely to me - I think they'd be more likely to use something locally made. As for Vectis's half-track, I'd want to see some provenance (or evidence of it being a pre-production) before accepting it as a genuine factory product.

MB47 School bus military edition these also had a star without circle..May be a code two made up with these decals but seems a bit late.
