Re: Tekno VW Vans
All Tekno models have become very collectible in the UK because as far as I know they were never imported here when NEW and collectors have had limited outlets to aquire them.
I imagine these Days they are subject to the same standards of condition and prices as the more well known brands with the best examples commanding the higher prices to collectors.
I appreciate those members here showing the above examples and would like to see more of them along with some historical content like catalogues etc such as the 1960's retail shop card below.
This is from Vectis auctions and shows what a diverse range of model subjects were available and would have been good competition for Corgi and Dinky at that time.
Ghosthunter.

Cheers all,
When I was a kid in the 70's it was pretty much impossible to get stuff like this unless someone was going abroad. I'd sit and look at the pictures in books, but never thought I'd actually be able to get them.
Getting a parcel of these really is like Christmas 40 years ago, as you never know exactly what they're like till you unwrap them.
Cheers

Ghost - that is a multi-page catalog and not a shop card. It looks strange since its all stitched together into one image!
Tekno were exported to US/Canada, France, Germany, Sweden, and other countries. Many of the 1950-60s releases had decals in English, eg, Fire Dept. I am surprised they were not in the UK also. In the US, they were very rare and harder to find than Dinky. Corgi, Matchbox... I bought a few from a high end toy shop in the 1970s.
Here is a Solido-Tekno catalog (they had a joint marketing agreement):

I found the Vectis auction - http://www.vectis.co.uk/Page/ViewLot.as ... t=60&Sub=0 I wonder if someone mounted a catalog on a poster or if this was a proof for the new catalog! Interesting!
