hello

Post by myoledad »

Thank you for excepting me and forgive the long post, but this is about my dad, he's no longer with us, but between 1960 and the mid 1970's he was a plant maintanance engineer at the lesney factory at Walthamstow east London. I can remember the days my dad took us to work and remember the big tin boxes, full of car parts lined up on the convyer belts and the lesney bus trips they put on for the family's, Christmas staff dinner and dances.
The best bit was when dad bought home 3 of those tin boxes full of cars for my little brother, he was the envy of the kids on the estate.
Over the years my brother grew up and grew out of his cars.
When my dad passed 20 years ago I inheritad a small box of cars about 60 of them, they have been sitting in my loft for all these years.
Most of them are yesteryear and without boxes I'm not even sure if the paintworks that good. (Think dad used to bring home the rejects) I know there value is of very little but I keet thinking, il find someone who would like them and Appriciate them, but didn't know where to start.
But I then came across this site, so I'm hoping that you can guide me and get some of these cars out to people who may want them for thier collections. I would rather that than give them away at a boot fair for 20p a car (like hubby wanted)
Any help would be appreciated TIA.

Hello 'Myoledad' and welcome to the Forum.
I think the best way forward with this would be for you to post a few group shots of the models so that we can get a feel for what you have. If anyone spots anything potentially interesting, we can then ask for close-ups. (It might be that some of them are not rejects, but early development examples, finished in different colours or with detail differences compared to the versions released for sale.)

Thank you motorman!
I've had a message stating that I may have got some of the roofs and seats mixed up. I have done what I can re this and put them To Fit. Meaning I've done this in order. If it didn't fit this car then it may fit that one?? they are quite specific as to wether it fits or not. Slots and clasps ect, If any one can give me a pointer to put them on the correct car..feel free.

Alex, before resizing the above pictures, did you make copies of them and then only resized the originals. I ask because there are some interesting models there and It would be of benefit now to see the original file size versions.
