Why did they pay so much?

Post by Miller »

i saw this auction on ebay.de and wondered, why they paid so much for a bad repaint. Is it for the blue base and in hope to rescue it in brake fluid? On the second photo one can clearly see the original peach paint.

Hi all, i was bidding on a empty F2 Grey Hound coach box last night, I went to £40 i thought i was being bid up at this stage so i backed off. Next couple of bids it went up to £102. I know its a hard box to find but somebody must have wanted it more than me Pete.

I also bid on this box but like you i was shocked at the winning bid, i recently won for the same amount a mint GT40 with the
red script box

Hi Dave I don't mind paying a bit over the odds but I think £102 was double what it was worth, there will be another one Pete.

Some people have more expendable income than sense. Either that or a shill was involved.

I hope the seller doesn't ship the box in a jiffy bag.

Even at half that price I would still have expected a model in the box as well. Way to much money imho.

It seems that some collectors will pay more for the box than the model, had this model and the box for a few years.
