Still ticking of the 'G' boxes
My quest continues to acquire every variation of the 'G' boxes and even add unlisted variations, such as this 24 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow without 'NEW' to the end flaps: -
Re: Still ticking of the 'G' boxes
Nice one! I've added it to my list...

Re: Still ticking of the 'G' boxes
Well, it's now 2017 and I'm still ticking!
I found this last issue 58 DAF Girder Truck box without 'TM' and with 'Specification' blurb quite hard to find: -
Not in great condition but an unlisted 17 Horse Box without 'TM' and with 'Specification': -
Finally, my best box find in ages. An unlisted 71 Ford Wreck truck without 'NEW' to the end flaps: -

Very interesting John, and it's something I don't usually pay much attention to so I am glad you have

For me, the 'G' boxes are as important as the models themselves. I just love the artwork and with over 200 variations, there's plenty to sink your teeth into.
Re: Still ticking of the 'G' boxes
Hello John I am quite surprised at how many of the same box come with New and With-out new on the ends I have found quite a few in my lot.

Without "New" always seem harder to come by for most G boxes IMHO. I have over 100 G boxes (not many, I know...) and probably only about 15 of them are without "New".

I've always felt that Lesney allowed themselves an overly generous amount of time when it came to retaining the 'NEW' designation on their 'G' type Superfast boxes. I suppose the marketing men got their way?!
Anyway, by my count there are 180 'G' boxes with 'NEW' to the end flaps (including models with multiple variations such as the 58 DAF Girder truck which came in 3 flavours).
Conversely, there are just 35 'G' boxes without 'NEW' (including the short-lived regular wheel issues - 16 Bulldozer, 39 Tractor, 40 Trailer, 61 Alvis and 65 Combine).
So, for purely Superfast wheel models, there is an exact ratio of 6:1 in favour of 'NEW'.
On that basis, I do agree with Gavin that without 'NEW' boxes are harder to find. However, there are exceptions to the rule for models that had a decent run in the range but didn't enjoy an 'H' or 'I' type upgrade, such as the '8 Wildcat Mustang', '22 Freeman Commuter', '23 VW Camper', '34 Formula 1 Racing Car', '36 Draguar' and '62 Rat Rod Dragster'.
In summary, if you don't collect the second generation of Superfast generic models, then you'll most likely not own many 'G' type boxes without 'NEW'.
I'd be very interested to hear any different views on this from other 'G' box collectors.
Re: Still ticking of the 'G' boxes
Hello John I must admit I had to go into the 2nd generation of Superfast only to get the ones that came in the "G" boxes.
I did not count the other five boxes in with my original "G" boxes they seem to be a little group on their own
