Matchbox Card Games

Post by SuperFast »

Hello fellow collectors,

after years of searching for Matchbox card games to a reasonable price, i've lost my hope. There are many different themes in these card games: SuperKings, Superfast and Skybusters too.
But i was still overbidden in every auction.
So i decided in the end of the last year to make my own cardgames.
I've designed the frontpage and the back. In december 2016 i gave the designs to a German company which made a professional card game for me.
I have RW- cardgame and a SF- cardgame (both have 32 cards, I made the games as quartetts).
Here are two photos:

Sven,
Those look very cool -- congrats!
I do not recall seeing the MB original card games so I'm assuming they are hard to come by as you said in your post.

Found these in a old box, leftovers from our sons. I am known by my wife as "the one that never disposes of anything" :D

Both in German but the pictures are great!

I only have this one, which I think is Dutch?

Would like to find the others. I think there is a set of normal playing cards with YY's on as well.

The language is Dutch, meaning the card could be either Dutch or Flemish.

There is a couple more sets. I think Christian has them on his site.
I have them here somewhere but haven't seen them for a while.

I've taken a look on Christians site, great Information there, my question is, why have most of the games, less than 32 Cards? I thought 32 Cards are regular in a Quartett.

Here is the link to my page on these games: http://www.cfalkensteiner.com/Matchbox/ ... gCards.htm

Many games in general have 32 cards, but it is not uncommon to see games with either 36 or 24 cards. Specifically the "mini quartets" in smaller size typically come with only 24 cards, whereas earlier games from the 1960s very often have 36 cards. I cannot explain why.

German-speaking members interested in this topic may want to have a look at Chris Reisse's blog which specializes in this kind of thing: https://quartettblog.wordpress.com/ Matchbox games are also featured there (with some contributions from me as well).

This is only one card from a game which otherwise features models by brands other than Matchbox - mostly Rami and some Solido if I remember correctly. I believe this is the only card in that game which shows a Matchbox model.

This one is Dutch, but there is also a German version of that game which was produced by the Bielefelder company, the same which made the German Matchbox games.

Thanks Christian, that saves me searching for the other three models shown on the card!
