Remember the barrel and gear can be raised up off the base/chassis to about a 100* angle, more than enough room for clear access. Consider the rear rivet under the window of the #74 bus, that access seems impossible yet it has the same compressed rivet post as is found on every other model's base.

Hi Joe,

Thank you for adding a new and different view of the crimped axle on the 21d barrel.
Could I please ask a favour and get you to check the casting and tell us what type of wheel axle support stands yours has. So far we have only seen this crimped axle on the second casting with the narrow braces on wheel axle supports.

Thanks
Bert

Bert, the model is Nick Jones Code 1:
Body Type 1 (Thin platform, non tapered ladder and no brace blocks on the rear).
No home in the base.
Axle holds on the barrel (with crimp end)/
No braces (no braces for the axle supports).

I took the model apart to make into a crane truck. I have other 21d beaters so if anyone one wants this one they may have it. Just send me your address and I'll send the model.

I Last year, I restored a different model that a member here would have liked in its original play worn condition. So before I modify this one, I'll offer it to anyone who may want it.

The small cab rivets are drilled but can be reattached.
