Two great examples of 'Pre-production' models with castings displaying flow problems of the moulten metal (Packard front wing tip and Bugatti engine sump cover), lack of model information on the baseplate (Bugatti), but very interesting display of undecided information on the Packard's baseplate.

The production model was released as model number Y-15 and called Packard Victoria.
The above 'Pre-Pro' has the number Y-16 and it is called Packard Dietrich.

'Victoria' was the body style, 'Dietrich' was the body builder and it looks as if the full title may have been too long for casting onto the baseplate.
