my goodness.

Re: K20A Tractor Transport
The gray tractor rack has turned up on models with red fuel tanks and with yellow fuel tanks. At last discussion, no definitive conclusion has been agreed upon on which model came first (red tanks or yellow tanks). Evidence in the form of drawings and photos of early released models shows can be found showing both color tanks.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

Re: K20A Tractor Transporter
Wow what an amazing group of transporters!! Must be one of my favoutite castings.
There is also a casting variation of the trailer: look at the first and third ones pictured, they are lacking a horizontal strengthening brace at the front of the trailer.

I certainly is one of the best collection/representation of this model I've seen.Alwin van Hattem wrote:Wow what an amazing group of transporters!!

Alwin: Thanks for pointed that out. If you count from the last picture up, the 9th and 10th pictures clearly show this ridge line at the top of the front of the trailers.
Tinman- thanks for the kind remarks. Yes it is a nice group of models. I always liked this one in particular as it was one of those models that I used to look at
in the shop windows when I was a kid wishing I could buy it but I could not afford it.

Re: K20A Tractor Transporter
OMG Charlie!
I have 5 different variations of the K20 model and when I pull them off display to examine I have tires going everywhere. It usually takes me an hour or more just to get the tires gathered up and put back in place. I can't even imagine how this was for you unless you have replaced all the tires with the newer replacement tires. Your collection is beyond reproach!
Now the question comes to mind, how in the world can you store, let alone display so many models. I know my small collection is spread all over the house and I live in a 2500 sq. ft. home.
BTW You do know you could write a book on King Size models and make some money instead of posting it to this forum. I would be one of the first in line to get a copy.
So again THANK YOU for your INVALUABLE posts. Unfortunately you have turned me into Pavlov's dog, I salivate at every post.
One other note.
I have heard you mention several times about wanting to purchase the models when you were a kid but were unable to afford it, Although I was fortunate enough to have a father that had a great lifetime job and could afford little things such as this, I understand your comment. My father was from a family of eight. His mother sold rags and his father was alcoholic and seldom worked. My fathers responsibilities was to hunt for game after school so the family could eat. When my dad retired from ATT in 1983 he started collecting the thing he couldn't afford as a child. After he died it took me three years to clean out all the building that he owned that were full of his collection. So heart felt congratulations for achieving beyond what you came from.

Re: K20A Tractor Transporter
Hi James,
I have 5 different variations of the K20 model and when I pull them off display to examine I have tires going everywhere. It usually takes me an hour or more just to get the tires gathered up and put back in place. I can't even imagine how this was for you unless you have replaced all the tires with the newer replacement tires. Your collection is beyond reproach!
Fortunately I did not have that problem although I recall a couple of tires fell off when I was setting them up for the pictures.
Now the question comes to mind, how in the world can you store, let alone display so many models. I know my small collection is spread all over the house and I live in a 2500 sq. ft. home.
It is a challenge. I do have 16 display cases each with 8 shelves that can hold a substantial number of models. At the moment it is "standing room only" as every square inch is occupied. In addition there is a large number of MOYs and DYs as well in the mix, with a huge number of code 2s.
BTW You do know you could write a book on King Size models and make some money instead of posting it to this forum. I would be one of the first in line to get a copy.
It would be great to have a dedicated book on major packs/kings/superkings/speedkings/seakings & battlekings. It is such a vast subject with thousands of variations including prepros and color trials.
I do not think there are many collectors to support such an endeavor. There will also be a need for a group effort, the top few collectors working together to tackle this effort to exchange information, pictures and knowledge of the
models without the expectation of any monetary return, simply dedication to the hobby.
I have heard you mention several times about wanting to purchase the models when you were a kid but were unable to afford it
I could only afford to buy the superfast models which kept me very busy chasing new ones. I enjoyed playing mostly with the trucks and the cranes (such as MB30 and MB42), two of my favorite.
Thanks for the nice remarks. I am glad to hear that you like the posts. My intent is to put out as much information as possible on the subject matter. I know some of the variations have not been reviewed before in any book. The UK Matchbox Club magazines published by Mr. Ray Bush back in the seventies and early eighties contain the best detailed information on variations not only on the superkings but also on all the other matchbox ranges.

Re: K20A Tractor Transporter
I need a gold trailer MX to complete my collection. Here are a couple of mine .... the green tractor is a repaint. I've taken to repainting the really poor condition tractors in the wrong colours to create some variety.
