Kev,

Were they the standard rims that the car was issued with or are they your own addition?

I never owned a Magnum, now i kind of wished i had. Do you know if there are any still on the road??

Alex, "GMJ 169N" the metallic orange car has the standard rims as fitted by Vauxhall, "PEB 200R", the pale blue car has after-market 'Wolfrace' alloy rims, (I still have these wheels!) so if you get a Magnum, you know where some nice wheels are!

These cars rarely turn up on Britains streets these days, not that many made in the first place, so to see them now, you really have to go to a car show, preferably a Vauxhall one. I am no longer an active member of any Vauxhall clubs, but two clubs specifically cater for the Magnum, 'The Viva owners Club' and 'The Droop Snoot Group', (come on now, no funnies about drooping snoots, please!).

I have only 'Googled' the Magnum today and none seemed to be for sale anywhere!!!

...and as soon as someone spotted an unusual car on the track, all these MG's turned up to crowd me...

Quite like this photo - imho the best looking and doubtless quickest car in the photo is the 4 door saloon. Why did the British Sports Car die out again?

Is that a Fiat 600? A college mate of mine had one, and I got a lift every day along the Edinburgh City Bypass in it - utterly terrifying and the closest I got to lorry wheel nuts until I became a tyre fitter :D

Thank's Ewan, a 2.3Litre slant four engine in a relatively light body, stage one head and high-lift cam, fed with twin, nicely balanced Carbs...WHOOOSH! you can't beat it...well you can, but now I use 6.75Litres, all alloy V-8, in a two and a half ton 'sitting room' of a car, my Rolls-Royce!!!

My 1990 Chevy Lumina APV, photographed outside the dealership in Clinton township in Michigan in 1995, That's me standing behind it, I drove it to New York and shipped it to the UK, It was a real eye catcher in 1995, We owned it for about 13 years and did about 75,000 miles in it, it only let me down once when the auto gearbox refused to disengage the overdrive, a component had failed in the gearbox but I fixed it myself, The part cost about £20 and it took less than half hour to fit.
With the purchase price and shipping expense it still cost less than half the price an equivalent Renault Espace

ghosty lovely set of magnums , my 1800 one ran twin 40 weber side drafts (came on it at time of purchase) other than a cherry bomb exhaust all else was standard the thing went like the clappers and gave my mates consul gt a good run for its money . the group I used to hang around with had some nice 60'S & 70'S chariots including a holbay engined hillman hunter , marina tc , capri 1600gt , 3 or 4 Cortina 1600e , mk1 gt Cortina , mk1 lotus Cortina (still one of my wet dream cars) and rover p6 v8 ,the sound of those 40's was unbelievable so was the fuel consumption (under 20mpg I think) the magnum is the only car I wish I still had , happy days
