Yet more models join the collection...Several fortuitous finds and a couple of long term targets...

Hillman Minx

Rear doors look like they are oversprayed Mink Blue items, which quite a few of these seem to have.

I think I now have the set:

Finally two late Plastic wheel Landrovers. One has a metal steering wheel the other plastic. Repro screens and plastic drivers will find there way on to these shortly.

Finally a grail for me that I just finalised and which should be here shortly.

Leyland Octopus chain truck - condition and all that. Happy to have it to go alongside the Atlas version and the code 3 repaint which I thought would be the only one I could afford.

I do like the Hillman Minx, cute little car. Did they make these in Two-Tone finishes or was Dinky just adding a bit of 'Bling' to a basic model... :D

Now just look at those Fords, stunning, one model never to come my way a a Child, I wanted the Silver-Grey version and the POLICE version but as part of the fabulous multi vehicle POLICE cars set with the Mini and Transit etc. Yours is a really good example, with very few minor chips, but probably left the factory like it.

Very nice collection of Zodiacs including the very rare metallic blue, you only need to bronze version for every variation. Is the GT40 also in metalic blue or is it the silver version?

Cheers. Looks like the bronze version is also hard to find....hopefully it won't elude me for too long.

The GT40 is light metallic blue...

Ghosty, I've read somewhere that the Minx and a few other cars of the same generation were given the garish two tone treatment to revive these old castings in response to some new Corgi innovation in the day...can't recall what that was.

Hi Dave,
Lovely stuff again mate, that Chain lorry is great!
The early Mail van is a real favourite of mine, I don't know why but the mask spraying is often really poor on these? I thought mine was a respray when I first got it. A great model though.
Cheers

The two-tone revamps were produced from 1956. The first ones were announced in the January 1956 issue of Meccano Magazine, predating the Corgi Toys range which appeared in July of that year. The slogan has rather changed in meaning since the 50s...

Thanks Fred for that additional info. Debunks the theory I'd heard.

Yep, times and language have moved on.

Cheers
