Returns Query

My wife recently bought an item on Ebay. It didn't work, so she requested a return. Instead of agreeing, the seller offered a partial refund which we declined. It went to resolution and Ebay instructed the seller to accept a return.
She duly printed off the label, boxed everything up and sent it off. However, I've just got home to find the parcel has been returned to use with Royal Mail label marked "Addressee unknown" and "Return".
My conclusion is that either the seller is using a false address (unlikely), or they think they can avoid giving a refund by refusing the tracked parcel. Either way, what should she do now in order to nail this scumbag?

Don't you hate problems like this! Assuming the return address was actually correct and Royal Mail didn't attempt to deliver the parcel to the wrong house, it seems to me that you have a case to ask ebay to rule in your favour because the seller is refusing the return. I would hope ebay would decide in your favour but they would need to investigate first. They would probably access any messages, contact the seller and also check the tracking details that will show your wife has done everything possible in the circumstances.

You need to be careful here, because ebay/paypal are different entities now. I don't think you would want to duplicate a dispute at this stage. With paypal isn't there 180 days in which to claim?

I took the bull by the horns and 'phoned Ebay. I spoke to a foreign girlie in Farawayistan who agreed that my wife had done everything that could reasonably be expected of her. She said that no further action was required, that a full refund would be given within 2 hours (it actually took 30 minutes), and that a note would be made against the seller's account.
All in all, a most satisfactory outcome!

It just shows you that sometimes the old technology can still bring results I mean lets face it, who would think of using a phone these Days to contact a high technology company such as ebay... well done Hugh, another feather in your cap.
