Help needed

Post by Teampixie »

Hello
My husband has spent a life time collecting toy buses and it's time for them to go as we would like a vinatge caravan so we are clearing out the loft.
Could anyone help with this bus and it's value .

Does your hubby know you are selling his collection? :?

This looks like a promo model as they are usually seen in standard red with 'Esso Safety Grip Tyres' labels. Not sure about value though, I will leave that one to our resident Dinky experts. Perhaps CW can help in that regards, over to you Chris.

I have lived and worked in High Wycombe (Buckinghamshire), for many Years, but have never come across 'Steve's Toys' as a toy or model shop, it could be just a 'Code 3' model.

Not that it helps with the original question, but the owner was Stephen Bristow who traded at 17-18 Church Street and filed for receivership in 1987 according to The Gazette. Was he know in the toyfair scene then?

Church St, know the road well, never been a toy or model shop there as far as I can recall!

I have an MB 17 with the same labels. I'd definitely say it is a code three and of no more value than a standard model of the same type.
I've only kept my model because it has "Steve's Toys" on it and my name is Steve, otherwise it would have gone in the junk box!

Cheers, Steve

That's actually quit good that you have kept it, because we now know at least Two were made!
