He will be delighted at your comments Hugh. I helped him a little but Dylan spent an hour on Nicks site looking at the models That were in the image before deciding that the 14c was the rare one, he even asked me if the #15 was missing its vent hole??? He is getting quite interested in learning about the different variations which is great but it is early days to be honest.Idris wrote:Well done, Dylan! Correct on every point. Re: Spot the Gem
Well done Dylan!
Motorman, you do realise that if you are going to start introducing Dylan to HTF & rare models at an early age you'd better up his pocket money allowance.

Re: Spot the Gem
The Lomas has the first-type of offside sill previously highlighted by Numi. It is also very close to mint, but is unfortunately somewhat discoloured. (Look at the colour of the Site-Hut Truck in the photograph.) I think it's probably from being kept in a room with a coal fire rather than tobacco smoke, but I'm wondering i) if I should attempt to clean it, and ii) if so, how, the problem being that water will damage the side decals, whilst any kind of solvent might attack that precious roof decal.
Nevertheless, I am extremely pleased with it and, as previously stated, I now have a spare for trade against a similarly rare RW model.

Re: Spot the Gem
No one said he was eight years old! The model is indeed quite rare with the cross decal and that's the reason it's rare. The cross cast lines are hard to find but I don't consider them rare (too many of them out there). Since you can't see (at least not in the photo posted here) the cast lines in the photo, the cross decal is the only indicator that they are there.motorman wrote:Easy Joe, I don't think Dylan was far off the mark saying that 14c was rare considering he is 8!!!!
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

Re: Spot the Gem
Tinman I can see tiny lines on the roof in the photo, I think you might need some new specs. Thanks Dylan.
