Normal Shipping Time UK to US ?

Post by 58oldsfan »

Could anyone give me an idea of what a normal shipping time from the UK to Florida would be? I have purchased the " Bumper Book of Lonestar" from Geoffrey Ambridge's Lonestar website. I used PayPal back in July, never received any confirmation that my order was received or shipped. I can't seem to get any replies to my emails. I have wanted this book for some years now, and was thrilled when I stumbled onto the website! Maybe I'm just too anxious? But it has been over six weeks with no word at all. All I have is my PayPal transaction. The website indicates Air Mail as well. Should be fairly quick shipping? Regards, Tim :D

Ahh, that would certainly explain it! I hope the man is still amongst the living! If anyone can confirm it though, I guess I better go through PayPal and get my money refunded.

Links to the site still exist on some model car websites. I went searching for confirmation on Mr Ambridge's death as soon as it was raised on our forum, but found nothing to confirm or deny the fact, so unfortunately we still don't know.

I just Googled it and came up with a "Deceased Estates" announcement from The Gazette, showing Geoffrey Sidney Ambridge of Polegate, East Sussex, died 25 April 2015. I cannot locate an actual obituary. Does this sound like it could be him?

Yes I've seen that but I don't think the dates tie-up of the death and when it was raised on the forum, seems too long a period. I have just been on a few Lone-Star websites including Robert Newson's and Wikipedia and nothing to the effect of his passing!

I've done the same. I guess I will wait a few more days to see if someone answers my email or the message from PayPal and hope for the best! :D

There is a reference to Geoffrey Ambridge of Polegate on Planet Diecast where they were discussing the bumper book some years ago. The Lone Star forum has no posts from the gentleman for 18 months or so.

Thanks for the information. It does indeed seem to be Mr. Ambridge of Lonestar fame. The address matches.

Thank's Johnboy for the additional.

Tim, hopefully you can get a refund and just go to Amazon, they are not particularly rare books, plenty out there.
