The famous 'Humbug' model, based on George Eyston's MG EX135 race car. I understand this came in various colour combinations and that striping must have been a challenge for Dinky to paint at that time.

I am not sure about the lower front end, is it damaged with some loss of metal (been hitting speed bumps... ), so hope the model is not fatigued any further.

I can understand the excitement regarding the pre-war humbug MG, but why is this Zephyr so special? (Sorry, I know next to nothing about Dinky.)

Hi Hugh

I'll let Chris give the definitive version. But from my limited research red is one of, if not the hardest, variation of the non US versions to find. Nicks Dinky pages have a play worn example like this changing hands for 360 quid.

Cheers

Humbug 23A has arrived, some "fatigue" on wheels and a large piece spalled out of the left rear

The seller informed me she has been collecting Dinky and Corgi for 30 plus years and has 4 storage lockers full of her collection. Hopefully the contents are appreciating over time to cover what must be an eye watering locker rental bill.

She mentioned she had another 23a in mint condition....I am awaiting photo's if she can did it out. If I get them I will ask her permission to post here, I am sure it will be more than just me who will want to see them

Thank's for the extra 'Humbug' pictures and unless the pictures are not showing this, there does not appear to be much fatigue within the body casting, so the frontal damage may well just be the results of constant playing and crashing into other cars and furniture, plus the occasional dropping onto the floor, nose first, still a very nice original example to have.

Love the French Petrol pumps.

On the way home from work today I went into our local model shop and picked up the two items below:

DG Models 28a Van Copy

My first Lone Star model a RAC Mobile Office. Looks like it has spent its entire life in the box. Great condition except box rubbing to roof. This is a large Dinky Size model 10+ cm long. Looks like a Matchbox sized Caravan in these photo's.

Looks like Offside decal was damaged at the factory 40 plus years ago:

A couple of hours, plenty of patience, the right product and a bit of luck and its almost how it was meant to be.

Just need to find myself the Lone Star RAC Land Rover and Motor Cycle and side car combo to complete the set.

Hi all,
Yes mate the all red LZ is VHTF. Most of these were in drab early postwar shades of brown / grey / green etc, there wasn't much paint out there for toy making! I'm still waiting for a decent Yellow / Green hubs to turn up at a sane price. The two tone export versions are gold dust.
The Comets a HTF one too, in light green / yellow. One of my all time favorites.50's Dinkys in any shade of yellow seem almost always to be badly chipped, or maybe it just shows up worse?
That RAC 'Van is ace mate, I've got a lovely large Budgie Motorcycle Combo that would look great outside it!
Cheers

Cheers Chris

Lincoln Zephyr arrived yesterday.

In finding space for it I had to move a few things around so I thought I would take some photo's showing the reasonably limited colour palette you are talking about.
