AHI car identification help

Post by mboxmike »

Greetings,
I'm trying to catalog some AHI's I got last year but can't identify what kind of car these two are in the first 3 pictures. The light gray one kind of resembles an Opel and the green one a Vauxhall. I can't find a close match from all the pictures I've seen online. Believe it or not these AHI's are pretty accurately detailed with trim down to a specific model/trim level.
For the last 3, I believe the red one to be a Mercedes(220 maybe?), the green one a Bentley, and the gray obviously a Rolls Royce.

Can anyone help with the year and model for these?

I think the Olive Green car in the first photo is Simca Aronde Monaco 2 door coupe. The model next to it may be a Fiat. The Green car is a MkVII Jaguar, the others you have identified with the Red Mercedes and Grey Rolls-Royce looking like they were based on Dinky Toys.

Thank you! Wow, I was way off with that Jaguar MK VII........I've never seen one with a front end and grille like that before.

The small photos at the bottom have US cars - maybe that will help...

Thanks for the additional links. I have used that 1:87 site quite a bit to help me with collecting these. I think I have pretty much all of the ones on that site except for the Volvo PV544 and a few of the 1960 models. I have the European and 1959 box sets which have the titles along with the cars on the box which help a bit, as well as many with the plastic cases with the tags on them. This last batch I picked up last year has a few unlisted models which I have not been able to find anywhere. I believe the Rolls and Mercedes that I put up pictures are on the 1/87 site. I could not find any reference to the two that Ghosthunter identified for me- the Simca and the Fiat(which appears to be a 1960 2100). Others that I have now that are not listed are, and I think the years are correct from pics I've seen online: 1960 Renault Floride convertible, 1960 Plymouth Fury, 1960 Ford Galaxie, unknown year MGA convertible, and an orange Porsche speedster convertible. I believe there must be another set, maybe a different European car series, that has not been found or at least pictured anywhere.

Also, I think that Jaguar may be a 1959 or 1960 Mk IX. The MK IX has that very distinct chrome piece that goes from the top of the front wheel well, back to the rear wheel well where it meet a straight piece going back across the fender skirt. On one rough condition one on Ebay the outline of the fender skirt is very prominent as well. The details on these tiny castings is quite amazing.

European set. The box is tatty but the cars are beauties.
