Dinky Metal Kits

A nice range of 32 metal kits that I would buy in the 1970's, maybe a bit more expensive than an Airfix kit but guaranteed to last longer and a saving on the factory built versions of the same model.
They originally came with a single glass vial of paint (with a cork or plastic lid) but later on the paint was omitted. Early kits came in a fold over book format packaging whilst later kits came on a hanger card.
I have compiled a list here for reference. There are gaps, presumably to allow newer models to fit into themes grouped together. Some gaps correspont to Dinky figures sets and maybe not used intentionally.
I had quite a few of these kits many years ago but were handed down and lost. I may start again, collecting a select few of my favourites. I remember converting the Ford D Tipper into a slot car which was a bit on the heavy side but never de-slotted

Very strange that the first three kits weren't 001 /002 /003. Even stranger that the blister card came first ... normally a range gets cheapened off but this range added to its costs .... although they did eventually delete the vial of paint.

Deleting the paint may have been applied to some of the kits, but the Rolls-Royce kit, #1001, kept it's paint up to 1973, as shown below.

How were the completed kits held together? Looking at the previous post, I get the impression that the rivets were to be simply flattened using a pin hammer. Was any kind of former supplied to help with spreading the rivets evenly?

By 1971, many models in the Dinky Toys range had been converted to screw fixing baseplates, so nothing more than a flat blade screw driver was needed to help build the kits.

Surprised to find a lot of these on E-Bay.

They are only worth their money and display value if unbuilt and still on their card or book. Once opened and painted they become a Code 3 or worse.
