Got some new......Matchbox

Post by Shane »

I just got the BR3 Build A Road kit :D
I purchased a bunch of other stuff from this local seller so he threw in a BR1 road kit as well. I already had a BR1 that I have displayed with my BP Gas station but extra road is a bonus especially when it was free !!!! (well not really when you consider how much of my money he took for the other items :o

(in this first picture BR1 on top, much larger BR3 on bottom)

Cor! you lucky thing, I do prefere the pre-Superfast sets for building layouts, which for me was more fun than letting a couple of 'Superfast' cars run down a rather non-realistic track system, I was never one for speed, prefer realism.

Ya, talk about imagination building for young minds. I never had these as a kid, but as an adult... presto !!! Diarama in a box :D
I love the curbs, light posts and road signs. Great detail for realistic play and display. Need to find a BR2 now and Dinky had road sets too that I have yet to acquire.

That plastic petrol pump attendant and the lamp stands are very hard to find, Especially with the sprue still attached, I'm afraid I could not stand the temptation and removed them from the sprue and fitted them to the pumps. Great set, And thanks for sharing your roadway sets with us, we never had these in the UK or anywhere else apart from Canada perhaps?.

I am surprised you never had them, they are marked made in England on the box. Not sure where the seller got these 2 but my first one I did get from the USA.
As for the pumps, it is extremely hard not to detach the parts. The temptation is almost overpowering.
I have been after the set or just parts for a long time as my station did not have the attendant or posts. I have not seen them aftermarket so only found them when sold as a set with the pumps which are just to expensive (on ebay anyways).
I have learned to be patient and hopeful as maybe one day a sought after item will fall into your lap. The pumps with parts and box were from ebay from the USA. I don't know how, but I won the auction for $15USD.

Nice photos, I like the clean lines of the Build a Road set. I've got one but never got it out of the box.
I did set up my Motorway set but didn't get as far as putting in the springs and trying it out.

I thought the "Build-A-Road" was a product of Fred Bronner Corp and only for the US and Canada market. I like this set pretty much and bought a few 2nd handed and accessory packs only just to get more of the fences. I think they didn't provide enough fences for building the scene as advertised.
