Does anyone know the brand EMBRO?
Does anyone know the brand EMBRO?
Recently I found this odd model here in The Netherlands.
It doesn't ring any bell to me, and couldn't find anything in books or on the internet.
On the base of the model the only indications are *EMBRO* and 81T.
But no reference on the internet about the brand EMBRO. Is it South African, English maybe?
Nor anything on New Curzon Motors... only that on Kotze St. in Johannesburg there is a Shell and a BP petrol station.
Could someone help me out please?
Maarten

Hi Maarten.
What a facsinating model. It looks like it is made of Alluminium with Brass wheel rims. I do not know who 'EMBRO' are but I bet it is made up from...'E. M. Brothers', but again I have no information on them if that is the case, so very sorry for not being able to help on this one, I'll move over and let the real experts have a go...

I think it more likely to be semi-phonetic and that it stands for 'M. Brothers', where M is the first letter of the brothers' surname.GHOSTHUNTER wrote:I do not know who 'EMBRO' are but I bet it is made up from...'E. M. Brothers'...

Hi all,
That is an absolute cracker! I love it. Again I have no idea on the maker, I've just looked through all the documents I have, and can't find this one.
Cheers

Hmmm, it remains a great mistery...
I certainly will keep it in my "odd models" corner of my collection(s)!

Would it be worth posting on the website below or using the contact option? Someone may have a memory that helps.

Might be worth a try, you never know who might still have examples or remember the same or similar toys.
