Ford cortina???

Post by Lee@kai76 »

Hi everyone sorry for starting a new thread but I thought I'd title it right and maybe more people can look at it now.

I have added some more photos and another cortina to compare it to, its not just the wheels what confused me, it's where the wheels are attached inside, hopefully you can see what I am talking about now from my phone taken pictures.

Hello Lee
That is an interesting Cortina.
It looks like someone swapped out the regular SuperFast wheels and axels and dropped in a set of Regular wheels and axels. Although I don't think the Regular Wheel era Cortina ever had hub and tire wheels.
I recommend taking some clear close up photos of the axel ends so people can advise if the axel ends are factory spec or if someone altered them after the model left the factory.
Regards
Kurt
Happy hunting!

Hi Kurt

Thankyou for your message, these photos are as good as I can get with my camera phone without going out of focus, don't think these will help any more but here you go anyway.

It does look as if the thick regular wheel axles have simply been pushed through the housings so they are resting tightly on the carrier for the Superfast wheels and one detail against this being genuine for me, is the fact the axle-ends are not opposed, meaning both large 'Boss' ends are on the same side of the car instead of one on the driver's side of the car and the other on the passenger's side which is a very common practice for this model as a 'Regular Wheel' issue.

Surely this is just another Bulgarian model, with random body and interior colours?

Looks like you're right Hugh.

I was aware of the Mark 4 Cortina being done in Bulgaria, but a Mk2 with later Superfast wide wheels is a new one on me.

I'll stick to Dinky

Cheers
