Hello,
got here a Saint's Volvo with red / white label in an original box, but with the traditional wheels / hubs - not the whizz-wheels.
Can that be an original or is it necessarily a restoration (unless I cannot see any signs of it)?
Best regards
Wolfgang

It comes with both wheel types. I believe The wizzwheel is model 201 the solid spun hub is the 261. Here are some images courtesy of Vectis toy auctioneers

Yep red label was available on both. Except the spun hub version is number 258 not 261. Number 261 is the James Bond Gold Aston Martin DB5.
Whizzwheels version from 1970 to 1971. Red Label Spun hubs from 1968 to 1970.

Re: Red label The Saint's Volvo
Thanks for the quick answer,
are production quantities known - which one is the more favorable in terms of the value?
What about the bluelabel one?
Best regards

Re: Red label The Saint's Volvo
This is the list of variations I know of relating to all the Corgi Volvo models...

228 - Volvo P.1800 - saumon with yellow interior.
228 - Volvo P.1800 - tan with red interior.
228 - Volvo P.1800 - pearl white with red interior.
258 - The Saint’s Car - white with black Saint logo – spun wheels.
258 - The Saint’s Car - white with white Saint on blue lable – spun wheels.
258 - The Saint’s Car - white with white Saint on red lable – spun wheels.

201 - The Saint’s Car - white with white Saint on red lable – Whizzwheels.
201 - The Saint’s Car - white with white Saint on blue lable - Whizzwheels.
Blue label versions usually are at a premium price and are seen as the harder to find examples.
Production numbers can not be quoted totally accurately due to records being destroyed in the famous 1969 Fire at Mettoy.

Thanks for correcting me, I can't believe I got that one wrong as the #261 James Bond DB5 is one of my favourite Corgi models duh!!!RSSierra wrote:Yep red label was available on both. Except the spun hub version is number 258 not 261. Number 261 is the James Bond Gold Aston Martin DB5.
