Matchbox Superkings K-40 Ford 'D' Series Pepsi Truck

Hi all!
I have a question on the Matchbox Superkings K-40 Ford 'D' Series Pepsi Truck.
I bought a model which clearly shows red paint under the blue paint. My guess is, that it was repainted at the factory, have a look at the rivets.
Because of that, the blue is much deeper than on regular issues. I did a quick research and found a pic at google images. It's from the Moyboy's Forum and I think it's our nearlymint who posted it. It shows the Pepsi Truck in red with red plastic parts. Jason could you kindly tell the story behind this variation?

There also is a casting variation behind the rear wheels. I will try to show this as well.
Ignore the Batman labels/stickers, no it is not a rare promo and it's also nananananananananot good! That was a BADMAN, for sure

Hi Linus,
The Red version was the first version, then there was a mixed version with red base and some parts blue. Then the blue version, your one definitely looks factory overpainted so a very nice variation in deed. I have this picture which shows the early base on the red version similar to yours.
There are many combinations with some models missing the cab roof colour as well, if I can find my ones I will check if any of mine are overpainted as well. J

Red one seems to be a bit harder to find. I have never seen one! Neither in the internet nor in person.
It looks like the box in the backround shows a variation with black base and green tinted windows, maybe a prepro.

Red chassis with blue roof sold on eBay a couple of months ago for £50.

Hi AJR,
Very nice model in a great box. I have a play worn one of these and the plastic roof on these is a darker blue as well, not sure if the darker blue roof can be found on the later models.J
