47B White Commer with stripes - short man?

Post by tractorboy »

A bit battered but one I've been looking to get for a while and then picked up 2 within a few weeks.

Bit concerned that the man has the coat down to the floor and Nick's guide has the tall man listed

The baseplate is loose due to broken rear where the tab fits but does not come apart.
The rivet look untouched and baseplate does not pass over it - would welcome comments.

I think you have done well with those Two, with rivets seemingly OK in the pictures.

Seeing examples in this condition does tend to tell a story as it shows that they were very popular toys and have been played with a lot, or the paintwork was so poorly applied and un-baked it fell off if you just looked at it...I'll go with my First theory!

Well spotted, it's nice to have the stripes and it's great the side decals are still pretty good and the vendor's ice cream is intact on the left too. I think the other vendor has popped out to buy some more cones. The rivet looks ok and I don't see any reason why interiors with tall and short men couldn't have been used given the number of variations that Lesney were knocking out and who knows what stocks were laying about in the factory ready to be used up.

In my opinion the interior casting differences on this model are due to multiple dies, so any variation may be found with any interior casting.
