Tyre cross referance please..

Post by misterpop »

Do's anyone know if the tyres for the Fiat Pathe news car are the same as fitted to the Jensen?. I need some for a quick "Get ready for sale" but they seem awfully dear on MODEL SUPPLIES site plus I am nor sure of the other models I could canabalise..

I believe they are the same (I'm not at home so I can't double-check, but I am quite confident). They are hollow tyres which fit onto an extended rim on the hub, as also fitted to the Mark 4 Zodiac, Corsair 2000E and VW Fastback among others. However, you have to be careful as late Zodiacs had wheels which looked almost the same but no longer had the extended rim for hollow tyres.

I am also pretty sure the tyre is the same. It can also be found on model number 158, Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow in Red and then the next few examples in Blue.

Got a scrap MG instead the tyres fit if a shade big and I have had to cut the back ones and super glue them back together having treaded them round and up the wheel arch'es...Looks OK though as a static model.....Now to fit the Yesteryear with an old set of Dinky wheels and tyres should look old world...

Thank's Ian. the wheels those tyres came off are actually slightly larger than the earlier wheels from 1973-1975 'Yesteryears', so if you can find some of them they may fit even tighter around the rim. These earlier tyres do not have that distinctive ridge on the side-walls that I can see on yours, so I know from experience those are late versions.
