Although neither the NAMC’s “Catalog of all Series Matchbox Models” (first edition) nor the AIM “1-75 Series Regular Wheels” catalogue (second printing, 1983) contain any unlisted variations, they both comment on the existence of with trim/without trim variations.
Neither Houghton nor Stannard contain any unlisted variations, and U.K. Matchbox did not cover the model.

Re: 63a Ford Service Ambulance
Hi Hugh,
Here is a correction that should be easy enough to put right.
The Michael Stannard code 5 for this model has this listed as 11 x 36 and is actually incorrect. I see it has been carried over into Nicks listing as his code 5.
I believe in Stannards case it should have been an 11 x 45. Nick shows the 11 x 45 as his code 6.
The 11.0mm x 36 tread count type bpw does not exist within the Lesney regular wheel range.
I see one was mentioned in the 63a casting show in October 2013 but this may just be a typo and should be 11 x 45, perhaps George can confirm.
Regards
Bert

Re: 63a Ford Service Ambulance
Hello Bert you are correct about the wheels I did not count the treads on them as I just went by Stannards variation guide.
The next model on my Casting Show is #63 so I will correct it right as 11x45 this time.

Re: 63a Ford Service Ambulance
In another thread, Dick (Kwakers) has pointed out that part of the general description in the AIM catalogue reads "...with and without silver grille..." . As i have revealed in the same thread, I have an example with a trimmed radiator grille, but it is an uncatalogued variation, being 10 x 24 BPW, d/h c/a, thicker rear slot brace, no hole baseplate. This brace/baseplate combination looks plausible from Nick's table, and makes me wonder whether the thin brace/hole baseplate variation might exist right at the end of the model's timeline (when the stockroom was being cleared).
