I'm having a bad run of luck, 90% of my recent transactions have been frought with problems and the latest one is a Triumph motorcycle and side car shipped in the Jiffy "Bag-O-Death." Of course it arrived damaged! The seller advertised it would be shipped via Priority Mail and charged in excess of the rate for a small Flat Rate Priority Mail box.

Instead, they shipped via the much cheaper First Class Mail using a jiffy bag and condemed a nice model to destructive damage. The USA based seller: bwfergus

I don't know, but I just sent him an email letting him/her know I was very unhappy. I really don't understand people charging for one method of shipment and then using another. It's really a dishonest way to make a few extra dollars and in this case it ruined a nice model (just for that few extra dollars).

Sellers; quit lying about your shipping costs and be honest. You are not fooling anyone!

""Bag-O-Death"" Thanks Joe . I near choked on my cuppa tea laughing. You really do have a way with words. I don't understand how an adult can look at a delicate model like the triumph and think it will be OK in the Jiffy Bag . Hope you can salvage it . gaz

Id like to nominate EBay user mrtristanhunt. Model sent unwrapped in a normal envelope, not even a jiffy. Luckily it was a #33 Datsun, so quite 'streamlined' and has arrived in one piece, but I'm amazed it did.

My latest Jiffy Bagger sent me a full refund and attempted to blame ebay for having the wrong shipping method listed. I'm not buying the excuse as it makes little sense. The fellow put the model in the bag and posted it himself.

I can fix the model but doing so will ruin the paint and it will have to be repainted/restored. All seems such a shame.

Got one today as well. Mustang in a jiffy bag . Rear window now has a crack . It is only a donor car but the window was the part I wanted . I am making it a rule now to send the seller a message about sending in a box. Even if I have to pay more its worth it . gaz

"Please ensure that the model is well protected by wrapping it in e.g. bubblewrap and then placing it in a stout cardboard box, wedging it firmly in place using screwed-up newspaper. (Experience has taught me that wrapping a car in two sheets of kitchen paper and then sending it in a padded envelope does not provide sufficient protection in the post.)
Thank you!

If a box is involved, I ask for it to be flattened and sent sandwiched between two pieces of thick cardboard sellotaped together.
Since consistently adding my standard text (see above) to the PayPal payment, I have not had any more instances of damage in the post. I did, however, get one reply from an insufferably arrogant seller (obviously totally oblivious to the fact that he was posting what was now my property) along the lines of “you’ll get what you’re given”! (The mentality of some people simply beggars belief.)
